The Difference of Hot melt glue and Water glue about BOPP packaging tapes

There are many types of glue, such as hot melt glue, water glue, oil glue, etc. Different glue, their curing methods, speed, time and form of different adhesives are different. Today we talk about the difference between hot melt glue and water glue.

HOTMELT GLUE

Hot melt adhesives do not require solvents or water during operation. At normal temperature, the hot melt adhesive is solid; after heating, the hot melt adhesive is liquid, and the liquid can still flow.

The advantages: The cost of transportation of the packaging boxes is relatively low, the hot melt glue do not need to be frozen, and no drying equipment is required. It is easier to stick something, and the adhesive strength is also stronger. The storage stability is relatively high, and the water resistance is relatively good.

The disadvantages: When packaging tape factory coating hot melt glue into BOPP films, need special equipment; although the adhesive strength is large, it is easily affected by temperature; it cannot be heated continuously, and the substance will be decomposed after continuous heating; in the process of coating glue, the control over the amount of glue is also relatively poor!

WATER GLUE

Water glue is emulsified with water as the solvent and requires special emulsification equipment.

Advantages: Water is used as the solvent, and the price is very cheap. Because it uses water as a solvent, it is environmentally friendly, non-toxic under normal conditions, and has no pungent odor. And the glue itself will not burn, has good water resistance and adhesive strength.

Disadvantages: The disadvantage of water glue is that the curing time is relatively long, the initial viscosity is not strong, and it is easy to freeze at low temperature. If it contacts metal utensils, it is easy to be contaminated, and then corrodes substances and corrodes these metals.

In fact, the difference between hot melt glue and water glue is not only these, but also their construction characteristics. Adhesives with different characteristics have different construction characteristics. For example, hot melt adhesives can be applied and spread, and water glues should be scraped and sprayed. Therefore, when choosing glue, you must also understand its construction process, so that you can prescribe the right medicine and produce good BOPP packaging tape.
